Diablo 4 Season 4 class tier list. If you’re wondering what class to play this season, this guide should help you out. Season 4 represents the biggest update Diablo 4 has received yet, with a complete itemization rework, new crafting systems that empower our characters in entirely new ways, a revamped Helltide experience, and a new challenging endgame mode called “The Pit” which will be super important to run.

Now, let’s dive into the class tier list for Season 4. We’ll compare this with what Season 3 looked like, and I can give you a teaser: there’s going to be a lot of movement this season. Only one class is staying exactly where it was.

Factors Considered in the Tier List

This tier list measures how powerful each class is overall with respect to tackling a variety of content in the game. We’re not just looking for performance, but also versatility in builds. A class that has only one powerful build and the rest being subpar won’t necessarily be in the S tier. We’re looking for classes that perform well across multiple builds in various game modes.

Here are the four categories we’re measuring for the tier list:

Leveling Experience (1 to 50): This is important for newer players who might try out a class for the first time. If they have a miserable experience leveling, they might stop playing Diablo 4 altogether.
General Endgame Farming: This includes Helltide, lower Nightmare dungeons, and Whispers – all the content you're going to be doing a lot of but isn’t particularly challenging.
Bossing: Specifically Uber bosses, including the new Uber Andariel, and the new tormented bosses which are level 200 versions of all the existing Uber bosses.
High Nightmare Dungeons and The Pit: This is the most challenging content in the game outside of tormented bosses and is crucial for maximizing characters.

Class Tier List

C-Tier: Sorcerer and Barbarian

These classes have had to be placed in the C-tier due to balancing changes and their overall performance compared to others.

Sorcerer:

Strengths: Great at speed farming with builds like Blizzard, Ball Lightning, and Frozen Orb.
Weaknesses: Lacks a standout build for bossing and The Pit. Fireball and Chain Lightning are great for speed content but struggle with high-end content.
Recommended Builds: For leveling, Chain Lightning and Firewall are solid choices. For endgame, Frozen Orb, Blizzard, and Ball Lightning are viable depending on the Diablo 4 Items gear you find.

Barbarian:

Strengths: Consistent performance across various content.
Weaknesses: Lost its edge after nerfs to Hammer of the Ancients and Charge. No longer as tanky and lacks standout builds for bossing.
Recommended Builds: Double Swing Twisters for a versatile playstyle. Thorns, Bash, and Kick Death Blow are good alternatives for specific scenarios. For leveling, Double Swing and Upheaval are effective.

B-Tier: Rogue and Druid

Both these classes have their strengths and weaknesses but fall short of the top tier.

Rogue:

Strengths: Excellent at speed farming and leveling.
Weaknesses: Scaling falls off in The Pit compared to other classes.
Recommended Builds: Barrage and Penetrating Shot for leveling and speed farming. Heartseeker and Rapid Fire for more challenging content.

Druid:

Strengths: Great at high-end content with builds like Werewolf Tornado and Lightning Storm.
Weaknesses: Slowest leveling class and requires specific gear for top build.
Recommended Builds: Pulverize for leveling and speed farming. Werewolf Tornado for high-end content and bossing once you acquire Tempest Roar.

S-Tier: Necromancer

Necromancer stands head and shoulders above other classes this season, deserving its own tier.

Necromancer:

Strengths: Multiple top-tier builds for all types of content.
Weaknesses: Generally slower movement speed.
Recommended Builds: Minion builds (including Shadow Minion) for ease and versatility. Bone Spirit for the highest burst damage potential. Bone Spear and Blood Surge for varied playstyles.

Conclusion

Necromancer is the standout class for Season 4, excelling in all categories with multiple powerful builds. While the Sorcerer and Barbarian have fallen behind due to balance changes, they still offer viable options for players who prefer their playstyles. Rogue and Druid remain strong contenders but require more specific setups to reach their full potential.

My current plan for Season 4 is to start with a Necromancer, focusing on a minion build initially and possibly transitioning into Bone Spirit later on. What are your plans for Season 4?
